aftercare

If this is your first time being tattooed it is essential you treat your tattoo as an open wound, which requires it to be treated hygienically at all times. refrain from touching or applying aftercare without first washing your hands, and ensure that pets are kept away from your tattoo.

During the healing phase, it is crucial to avoid itching, scratching, or exposing your tattoo to water. This includes avoiding tight clothing over the healing tattoo and refraining from swimming with a fresh tattoo. Apply good judgment in your care routine.

For the initial 3-4 hours, maintain the wrap on your tattoo. Subsequently, remove the wrap and cleanse your tattoo under warm running water using a small amount of mild, unscented soap—Dove Beauty Bar is our recommended choice. As all tattoos bleed and release ink and plasma, gently wash off these substances with your fingertips. Pat your tattoo dry using a paper towel or a clean bath towel. Allow the tattoo to air dry for 10-15 minutes before proceeding with either of the two healing methods below.

cling film method

• Wrap your tattoo in cling film for the first two nights.

• Continue with the warm wash process at least twice a day for the next 7 days.

• On the 3rd day you can begin to apply the smallest amount of INKY Tattoo Salve thinly over your tattoo, twice a day for the next 7 days.

• Make sure the tattoo is dry and your hands are clean.

• Wear loose-fitting clothing and avoid rubbing or stretching the area of your new tattoo.

• Please avoid gyms or excessive sweating for the first 7 days.

ADHESIVE BANDAGE method

• Cut a single piece of adhesive bandage to the size of your tattoo, leaving roughly 2cm around the edge.

• Make sure your hands and tattoos are clean and dry.

• Apply the bandage whilst your body part with the tattoo is in a natural position so it doesn’t pull when you move.

• You may need someone else to help you, depending on the position.

• Apply directly to the tattoo and smoothen the edges.

• For the next seven days, wash the bandage with hot, soapy water and dry it twice daily.

• When removing the bandage, ensure it is wet or lather baby oil.

• Pull from one corner firmly in one motion.
